Loro Parque
Loro Parque was founded in 1972 by Wolfgang Kiessling and his father. On December 17, 1972, Loro Parque was officially opened. At that time, it had a floor area of about 13,000 m² and about 150 parrots, plus a Loro show. It was originally created as a parrot park, which gave it its name, because Loro is the Spanish word for "parrot".
